The self-build and custom housebuilding register records the level of demand for self-build and custom housebuilding in the Borough. Each registration (completed form) is assessed against nationally set eligibility criteria, and locally set local connection criteria.

Self-build demand base periods are 31 October – 30 October. The demand from individuals and groups, for each base period is set out in the table below. Between January 2016 and October 2019, the register was based on the national eligibility criteria alone, and demand was reported as a single Part 1 register. In October 2019 local connection criteria were added to the registration process and demand is now shown in two parts: Part 1 (meeting national eligibility and local connection criteria) and Part 2 (meeting national eligibility criteria only).

*Two applications in the 2019-2020 base period indicated that they were registering both as individual and on behalf of a group, so have been included in both the individual and group Part 2 figures.
